Positive and Negative

I'm okay with my positive and negative assignment. If I could change anything, it would be the subject. I don't think my subject is very interesting. As far as making the positive/negative, I think I succeeded.

I'm okay with this image. I like how she is unaware that I'm taking picture of her. As far as dodging and burning, I didn't do well at that. I should have burned more aound her, so that she would be the focus point.

Portraits

I like this portrait because it really emphasizes the woman's beauty.

I really like this image. It utilizes rule of thirds, and I love the little girl's expression. She's just chilling, waiting around for something.

I like this image because you can kind of get a feel of her culture, with her nose ring, and the mark on her head. Also, her eyes are a really pretty color. The viewer's eye is drawn to them.

I like this portrait because the little boys are actually posing, and grinning. I like the connection between them. They could be brothers.

I like this image first of all, because I like photos of children, and second because the child looks pretty curious of what the photographer is doing.

What Makes a Great Portrait

I think that capturing the portrait when the person is unaware, makes a great portrait. I think that gives the image more of a feeling.

Framing

I'm okay with this picture. I like how I used the lights to frame this pictures. I think this image could have been a little more sharp. I should have used a filter.

Framing

I like this image because the window is used as the frame.

I like the way the rock is kind of a window, looking into the sea.

I love how this picture is vintage. The truck window is framing the two little boys.

I think that this picture is beautiful, and I like the way the trees frame the water.

I like this the colors in this image, and the use of framing three different times.

Hands and Feet

I like my hands and feet picture. I like the use of hands AND feet, especially because it's a babies hands and feet.

Descriptive Words

I'm okay with my descriptive words assignment. I think I conveyed a message of, being playful. Specifically with this image, I think I could have done a better job dodging around the kids hands, and burning around them.

Hands and Feet

I like this image because the rings draw the viewers eye to the hands. I also like how the cake is in the background.

I like the comparison of the baby hands, and the older hands.

I like this image because it is sepia toned, and because of the older hands.

I like the texture in the baby feet, and the older person's hands.

I like this picture, because it shows the parents holding their baby's feet.

I am happy with this picture. I think its well focused, and a nice close up. Also, the subject is on one thirds of this picture.

Rule of Thirds

I'm attracted to this image for its colora, and it does a nice job of having the subject on one third of the image.

There is nice symmetry in this photo. The focus point would hit the intersecting lines with a rule of thirds grid.

The child is right in the center of this picture. The center is one thirds of the image.

I think this picture is beautiful. the colors are really nice, and the lighthouse is on one third of the image.

I am especially attracted to this photo because it is baby. I love child photography. Also, the baby's face is on one third of the picture.

Conveying a Message

This picture conveys a message of bravery. He's going out in the world, and putting his life on the line.

I like this image because it shows people being caring. Maybe the two people are mourning over a tragedy. The comfort they are giving each other makes this picture stand out.

This elderly woman is expressing loneliness, and sadness. She's probably in a nursing home, or a retirement home, and feels lonely without her family.

I like this image because the emotion is obvious. The viewer can automatically tell that this little girl is very unhappy.

Jealousy is conveyed in this image because the girl on the right is upset, because the other girl stole her man. I like this image because it does a good job of expressing the emotion.

I like the use of reflections in this image. I really want to incorporate reflections into my work more. I like the idea of photographging mirror reflections. I could catch someone looking into a mirror, smiling, or with any other emotion.

Line assignment

I'm somewhat happy with my line assignment. I think I definitely showed lines through my images, but they didn't really have a focus point. I need to improve on incorperating the assignment, and having a focus point at the same time.

Monday, April 11, 2011

I like this photo for its leading lines.

I like this image for its depth of field, and the use of real lines. The light posts can not be rearranged.
I love the leading line in this picture. The dock leads right out to the water.
I like the spiral staircase in this image. The spirals lead right to the focus point.

This is an example of implied lines. There is a nice shallow depth of field.

Depth of field assignment

I'm not really happy with my depth of field assignment. Both photos have shallow depth of field. Personally, I like my photos to be sharp. I need to work on focusing also. I could improve on which aperture I use, to get the right amount of depth.

Depth of Field

Large depth of field, sharp focus point, small aperture.
Large depth of field, small aperture.
Large depth of field, smaller aperture. The image is very sharp.
Shallow depth of field, with a large aperture.

Shallow depth of field, large aperture. The photographer got very close to the focus point.

This photo has a shallow depth of field. A large aperture was used here.

I'm honestly not that happy with my motion blur pictures. The focus on them was off. Also, I asked people to make motion for me, which made the pictures less interesting.
There was a high shutter speed here, probably about 1/ 50.

The shutter speed for this photo was really slow. The photographer used panning here.
There is panning in this photo, so the shutter speed was probably really slow.
There is a pretty high shutter speed used for this photo. since there is motion, a shutter speed of 1/ 250 was probably used.
This photo has a higher shutter speed, because of its sharpness.

This photo has a slow shutter speed, because the cars are blurred. Panning was most likely used here, requiring a shutter speed of about 1/ 30 or 1/60.

Interesting things/ places I could photograph:
-the tree on the side of my house.
-lie down on my sidewalk and take a photo/ leading line
-abandoned objects in closets.
-take a photo of my fireplace from an angle.
